What we do/ About Us
(Depending on the services you have contracted us for) we will accompany you in labor, through post-partum support, and abortion/loss to help ensure a safe and satisfying experience. I am Certified Birth Doula through Dona International (for birth support), I have trained with The Spiral Collective (for abortion and loss support), and am certified by Modern Doula Care (for postpartum support). I have trained with Tracie Collins of the National Black Doula Association to provide Placenta Encapsulation and Tinctures and have completed a certification in Massage Therapy at Northwestern Health Sciences University. As a birthworker and bodyworker, I draw on my professional training, knowledge, and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise. (For birth Support) I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. I will also assist your support person by educating them on ways to provide you with physical and emotional support before and during labor and delivery. I will be on-call with for you 24/7 starting at either 38-42 weeks or 2 weeks pre-and post your guess date. (For Postpartum Support) I can provide reassurance and perspective to you, your partner, and your family. I can make suggestions for newborn care and postpartum care for the birthing person. Provide basic and non-medical suggestion for new parents. I can provide care for infants, solely based on intentions to help parents get rest and postpartum recovery. I can help with household chores if they fall within my and your families comfort level and ability, as well as the purpose of completing these chores, is to help the birthing persons postpartum needs. I will work to help provide the birthing person, their partner, and their family to build independence and confidence and to assist those around you with understanding the birthing persons recovery needs. (For Abortion and loss support) I can help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. I will also assist your support person by educating them on practical ways to provide you with physical and emotional support during the process of your procedure.
